The housing problems of families in Colombo will be solved in the near future. The problem will not be passed on to another minister, Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said. The minister made this observation participating at a mobile service at Pradeepa Hall, Gunasinghepura on Monday to solve housing programs of 1,800 families living in rented houses.More Short  

 

Sri Lanka has achieved great success in fulfilling housing needs of its population in 2013. Over 141, 670 families benefited from the housing program, Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that Sri Lanka's construction sector has recorded a clear growth of 22 percent. In order to maintain this achievement, the country is in dire needs to have a labour force enriched with skills. Minister Weerawansa further says that the present government is committed to utilize to the maximum extend the services of local and engineers and labour.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that it is hoped to construct fifty thousand houses during this year. The programme to reconstruct old housing schemes will be carried out continuously this year as well.
